Terms of Service for Ledge It All
Effective Date: July 8, 2025
Welcome to Ledge It All! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Ledge It All mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the "Service"), provided by Ledge It All ("Company," "we," "us," or "our").
Please read these Terms carefully. By creating an account, accessing, or using our Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organization, you are agreeing to these Terms for that organization and promising that you have the authority to bind that organization to these terms.
Special Note for Users Under 18: The Service is intended for users who are at least 12 years of age. If you are between the ages of 12 and 18 (or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction), you may only use the Service under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian who agrees to be bound by these Terms. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you have obtained such consent.
2. Description of Service
Ledge It All is a smart financial management application designed to help you track and manage your personal and group expenses. Key features include:
- Automated Transaction Tracking: Integrating with your Gmail account to automatically identify, parse, and log financial transactions from bank and merchant emails using AI and rule-based systems.
- Expense & Budget Management: Tools to manually add expenses, create budgets (weekly/monthly, up to 3 active budgets per user), and receive alerts for overspending or projected spending analysis.
- Social & Group Finance: Functionality to connect with friends, create groups, split expenses (equal, custom, percentage, share-based), and manage shared finances. Includes "Trip Mode" for automated expense splitting during trips.
- Analytics & Reporting: Category summaries, budget tracking, balance calculations, transaction history, and group expense summaries.
- Notifications: Real-time push and email notifications for transactions, budgets, friend requests, and trip updates.
3. User Accounts & Registration
Account Creation: You must register for an account to use the Service. Email verification is required. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information, including your name (max 30 characters), age (12-100), default timezone (currently IST), and default currency (currently INR).
Account Security: You are responsible for safeguarding your password and managing access from all your devices. Ledge It All provides features for multi-device login and the ability to log out from all devices. You must notify us immediately at support@ledgeitall.com of any unauthorized use of your account.
4. Data Access, Authorization, and Privacy
Your privacy is critically important to us. Our collection and use of personal data are governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Authorization for Gmail Access: To provide automated transaction tracking, you must grant us secure, token-based access to your Google account via OAuth. Our systems will use the Gmail API to process emails for the sole purpose of identifying and extracting transaction details. We do not store your Google account password.
Data We Collect & Process: By using the Service, you consent to our collection and processing of data including, but not limited to:
- Personal Information: Name, email address, date of birth, timezone, currency preference, device ID, app version, IP address.
- Authentication Data: Access tokens (JWT), refresh tokens, token expiration timestamps, OTP verification codes.
- Device & Technical Data: Device type (Android/iOS/Web), OS version, API level, FCM tokens, notification permission status, app lifecycle state, device information.
- Financial Data: Transaction ID, description, amount, date/time, category, account info, transaction type, notes, location data (if available), tags, split info, group ID, sync status.
- Bank Integration Data: Registered email addresses, bank filter preferences, sender email addresses, key phrases, OAuth tokens, email forwarding setup status.
- Budget Data: Budget categories, amounts, type, tracking status.
- Social/Group Data: Friend info, group data, friend requests, trip data, split configurations.
- Email Metadata: Sender addresses, subjects, timestamps, message IDs, history IDs.
- Account Settings: Ads preferences, app version tracking.
We may also collect information for bug reporting, analytics, and advertising (e.g., ad unit IDs, ad confirmation tracking, App Tracking Transparency status).
User Controls: You have control over your data. You can manage your email forwarding and filter settings, manage your friend and group connections, opt out of notifications and ads, and delete your account through the Service.
5. Data Sharing and User Visibility
The social features of Ledge It All require the sharing of certain information.
Sharing with Friends & Groups: When you add a friend or join a group, you acknowledge and agree that your name, profile information, and relevant transaction data will be shared with and visible to other members of that connection or group for the purpose of splitting expenses and managing shared ledgers.
User Responsibility: You are solely responsible for the connections you make and the groups you join. Do not connect with individuals or join groups unless you are comfortable sharing this information with them.
6. Fees, Payments, and Advertising
Ledge It All operates on a "freemium" model.
Free Version: Some features of the Service are available for free. You acknowledge that this free version may display advertisements from us or third-party ad networks (e.g., Google AdMob). Ad tracking and personalization may occur as described in our Privacy Policy.
Paid Subscriptions: Other advanced features may require payment, likely in the form of a recurring subscription ("Premium Features"). We will provide clear information on the features and pricing before you commit to any purchase. Terms related to payments, billing cycles, and refunds will be presented to you at the time of purchase.
7. User Conduct and Service Limitations
You agree to use the Service in good faith and in compliance with all applicable laws. In addition to general rules of conduct, you agree to abide by the following service limitations:
Usage Limits: Users are limited to a maximum of three (3) active budgets and cannot be part of more than one (1) "Trip" simultaneously.
Fair Usage Policy (API Rate Limits): To ensure service stability, your use of the Service is subject to rate limits. We reserve the right to temporarily or permanently suspend accounts that excessively exceed our rate limits.
Prohibited Actions: You may not attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its related systems.
8. Third-Party Services & Integrations
Our Service integrates with and depends on various third-party services to function, including but not limited to:
- Google (OAuth & Gmail API) for authentication and email processing.
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notifications.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS S3, SQS, Lambda) for storage and automation.
- SendGrid for email delivery.
- Redis for caching and session management.
- AI/LLM services for transaction extraction and categorization.
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) for advertising.
You acknowledge that the Service's availability may be subject to the availability of these third-party services. We are not responsible or liable for any issues, downtime, or data handling practices of these third parties. Your use of their services may be subject to their own terms and policies.
9. Data Processing, Retention, and Security
Automated Processing: The Service uses automated systems (including AI/LLM) to parse emails, extract transactions, categorize expenses, and synchronize data between your device and our servers. Email content is processed solely for transaction identification and categorization.
Data Storage: Data is stored both locally (encrypted storage, shared preferences, cache) and on our servers (user profiles, transactions, social connections, OAuth tokens, notification tokens). Processed emails may be stored in AWS S3.
Data Retention: User data is retained while your account is active. Transaction and social data may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion to preserve group expense histories. OAuth tokens are stored until revoked or expired. FCM tokens are retained for notification delivery.
Security Measures: We use encryption (in transit and at rest), JWT-based authentication, HTTPS communication, token expiration and refresh, API rate limiting, access controls, and audit logging to protect your data. Only necessary data is collected (data minimization).
10. User Rights and Legal Basis
Legal Basis for Processing: We process your data based on your consent (for email access and processing), contract performance (to deliver the Service), and our legitimate interests (transaction processing, analytics, fraud prevention).
User Rights: You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct or update your data
- Delete your account and data (subject to group expense retention)
- Export your transaction data (data portability)
- Withdraw consent for email access and processing
- Opt out of notifications and advertising

11. Compliance and Geographic Scope
The Service is currently focused on users in India. We comply with applicable Indian privacy laws and, where relevant, international regulations such as the GDPR. Users must be at least 12 years old. If you are located in the EU or other regions with differing data protection laws, you may have additional rights.
12. Account Termination and Data Deletion
Termination by You: You can terminate your account at any time from within the app's settings.
Pre-Deletion Requirement: Before your account can be deleted, you may be required to settle all outstanding balances or debts with other users within the app. Ledge It All is a ledger, and account deletion cannot be used to erase legitimate debts owed to other users.
Termination by Us: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
Data Deletion Policy: Upon account deletion, we will take steps to erase or de-identify your personal information. When we have no ongoing legitimate business need to process your personal information, we will either delete or anonymise such information. If this is not immediately possible (for example, because your personal information has been stored in backup archives), we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until deletion is possible.
Retention of Anonymized Data: Please note that to maintain the integrity of group expense histories, records of transactions you were a part of may be retained in an anonymized form within those groups even after your personal account is deleted.
13. Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability
NO FINANCIAL ADVICE: Ledge It All is an informational tool, not a financial advisor. The Service is not intended to provide financial, investment, legal, or tax advice. All financial decisions you make are your own sole responsibility.
"AS IS" SERVICE: The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without any warranties, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or uninterrupted.
DATA ACCURACY DISCLAIMER: We are not liable for any errors or omissions in the data processed from your emails or otherwise displayed on the Service. You are responsible for verifying the accuracy of all financial data.
GROUP DISPUTES: Ledge It All is a platform and a ledger. We are not a party to any agreement or transaction between users. We have no obligation to mediate disputes between users regarding split expenses or unpaid debts.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ledge It All and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or data, arising from your use of the Service.
14. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms and any dispute arising out of your use of the Service shall be governed by the laws of India. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India to resolve any legal matter arising from the Terms.
15. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by sending an email, posting a notice in the app, or updating the "Effective Date." Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
